Writer, director, and producer Bassam Tariq is an acclaimed documentary and narrative filmmaker whose work explores faith, belonging, and the complexities of the human condition through deeply personal storytelling. His latest film, Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, starring Mahershala Ali, premiered at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival. His debut narrative feature, Mogul Mowgli (2020), won the Berlinale’s International Critics Prize and was a BAFTA nominee for Outstanding British Film. Tariq’s debut feature documentary, These Birds Walk (2013), was named one of the best films of 2013 by IndieWire, The Playlist, and Sight and Sound.
