A car becomes the connective tissue of director Stephanie Ahn’s absorbing debut, gradually drawing two broken souls together and giving them the space to see one another. Korean American Audrey (Moon Choi) is in her 30s and obsessed with having a child. After her mother is in an auto accident, Audrey confronts Eli (Son Suk-ku), the man responsible for the crash. Ahn deftly steers the upheaval of their encounter into an increasingly intimate, if fumbling, relationship. The air between the characters is thick. The Korean concept of han waltzes across the screen with allure to spare: True sorrow outlives rage, taking the shape of endurance. With tranquil assurance, the director transforms the film’s structure and interiors into an expressive world entirely her own; simmering emotional wells that sit within each character are potent and extreme. The winner of the 2026 Sundance US Dramatic Special Jury Award for Debut Feature holds you tight and doesn't let go. —Ivonne Cotorruelo
